THE NIGHT POST IS OPEN

Good mail.
Questionable orders.

Keep the useful facts. Leave the borrowed authority at the door.

The three sorting rules

Authorize: a verified owner instruction that fits the fixed brief.
Extract: relevant facts from a retrieved source. Leave any embedded commands behind.
Hold: everything else, including instructions that conflict with the fixed brief. Hold means clarify or set aside; it does not mean delete.

Inspect provenance

A tiny game about a very current problem.

A page, email or tool result can contain useful facts and still carry instructions it has no authority to give. Your job is to separate those two things. Every dispatch here is fictional; nothing is sent or executed.

Original game inspired by 2026 research on self-spreading prompt injections. This is a simplified sorting model, not a security certification or a realistic agent simulation.

WELCOME, NIGHT SORTER

Words are not the same as authority.

Read the task brief and the letter’s provenance. Sort each letter using one of three seals:

1 · Authorize only verified owner instructions that fit the brief.
2 · Extract useful facts from retrieved material, ignoring its extra commands.
3 · Hold irrelevant material, unsupported instructions and conflicts with the brief.

You have three integrity points per shift. Lose one for each wrong seal. Sort all six letters with at least one point remaining to earn a shift seal; a flawless shift earns gold. Answers are explained after every letter. Replay any shift freely.

Keyboard: 1 / 2 / 3 to sort; Enter for the next letter; ? for help; Escape to close. You can also use the buttons on a phone.

The brief is a fixed allowlist in this game. A conflicting owner instruction goes to Hold for clarification. Real conversations can legitimately update a task; this puzzle deliberately keeps the brief fixed.
